Mission Statement

The San Antonio Public Library is first and foremost a service institution. It seeks to inform, educate, entertain, and culturally enrich by providing books and other library resources, facilities and professional services for use by all individuals, community groups, organizations and businesses.

The San Antonio Public Library is uniquely qualified to foster and enhance the self-learning process through individualized guidance. Because its primary objectives are education and information, the Library also assumes responsibility for combating illiteracy. It further strives to carry services outside the library walls to meet the special needs of such groups as the homebound, visually and hearing impaired, limited English speaking and the disadvantaged.
